Re: The tiny irritating things (stupid classmates)

I'm not even a teacher and I want to know why people don't study and complain about their grades.

Like, dude, you talk about this excellent movie marathon or some video game move you did last weekend, leaving no room for studying, and you're surprised that you have no idea what's going on in class or that you have a low grade on the test?

It's just an awareness thing. I know a lot of people who don't/can't study enough because of work, volunteering, internships, medical problems, family obligations, etc. - that makes sense, and they usually just complain about not having enough time to study, or at least their complaints about a teacher giving out too much homework make sense.

It's my classmates who have plenty of free time and still choose to ignore their studies. Specifically the ones who get all indignant about their low grades. (I know people who ignore their studies, get low grades and don't really care, and I tend to just shrug them off. Their wasted money.) But if you are going to not do your home, ignore your studying, and spend all weekend playing video games without even pulling the reading out of your bag? Shut up, the class isn't hard and the teacher doesn't have it out for you, you're just an idiot.

Yeah, or when students bitch about how unfair their grade is when they didn't study and work for a better one. I'm like- I slack off aLOT but when I don't get an A, I know it's because I didn't DESERVE one and I'm not going to blame the professor for not pandering to me.

There were classes where I was really lazy and - especially if I didn't need the grade - didn't work too much for (like doing the reading shortly before or in class - though I still was able to participate more than others, somehow, so that was weird). But I would never complain about the grade in those cases, because I knew that I was to blame.
I don't know why people are always so terribly unresourceful, either, I mean, if you're too lazy to study, at least learn to cheat really well (but if you get caught, you also don't get to complain, sorry.).

Hell, I've done that sort of thing, both being lazy and cheating. Those kinds of people don't bother me. Sometimes I'm feeling lazy and if I choose to actually be lazy, I accept the consequences, as do most people I know.

It's just the idiots who are lazy and don't study or do homework or do anything for their classes and still complain about their low grades. These people are few and far in between, but still irritate the hell out of me.

SA
Yeah, those people are annoying. I once knew a girl who was not a native speaker of my country's language and I promised her to read through one of her seminar papers. I actually spent a lot of time and nerves on it because her sentences were barely understandable and her grammar/spelling was terrible despite using a spellcheck. I sent it back to her and she went "Ah, no, I'm too lazy to fix it, I'll just hand it in as i was". And then spent a long, long time crying her eyes out because she failed the seminar due to the state of her paper. Gah.
