My grandpa always used to say 'money can't buy happiness, but you can be miserable in comfort'. I kind of like his version better.

"Money may not buy me happiness, but it's a lot more comfortable to cry in a car than on a bike."

I take the position that money may not be able to buy sadness...but it sure helps keep stress, anger, and grief away, which are nearly as good.
