Re: Feminism MRA and Men

It's not about the haters. saying "Fuck the haters" is easy but it doesn't make you feel like you - I don't know how to word it that doesn't sound melodramatic or "Woe is me"-ish. How do you feel comfortable being at a party you weren't invited to and (it feels like) no-one wants you to attend?

And I've heard MRA's say "We believe in equality too, we just acknowledge mens issues as well." which sounds nice but seems like utter bullshit when I see it in practice. I can see the value in the label, but the ideals don't seem to match up.

Wording of anon's post sounds suspiciously like a douche I know who does a slow burn from "um guys... I just don't know if this is the best..." to "FEMINISM IS EVIL, EQUALISM IS THE TRUE WAY!!!"

I am in fact the same anon all the way down. I am, however, not the poster you think I am.

da

But the thing is, feminism is not a "party" - it's a movement, yeah, but it's super divided. We all agree that women should have the same basic rights as men, but passed that, how to address issues gets tricky. Feminism is, if anything, a philosophy without a strict definition. So if you believe in gender equality, you're a feminist.

I don't know much about MRA, to be totally honest, but I wouldn't go that route - just call yourself a "gender equalist" if you're concerned about the connotations of the word feminist, and want to talk about both men's and women's issues (though I personally feel that feminism can include men's issues, too)

"gender equalist"
Has the same issue as "MRA" and "Egalitarian" it's been co-opted by douchebags who are just trying to hide the fact that they are anti-feminist.

Feminism has also been co-opted by douchebags. All you can do is live your life in accordance with your ideals. Let your actions speak for your beliefs.
