Good idea, let's not post every single secret that offends, triggers or upsets someone!
starphotographs: ...I'm not that bad, though. And I don't even light things on fire! Well, not regularly... (Izaya (devious))

God, they wouldn't even be secrets anymore.

"Shh... Listen closely... OMG THE GUY FROM THE SHOW HAS A REALLY NICE HAT! PLZ KEEP MY SEEKRIT!! :("

What the fuck would even be the point? :/

LOL! I agree so much. It really is a very slippery slope once you start not allowing triggery secrets. I mean, where does it end? What is a trigger and what isn't?

Yes, being an asshole is so much more important than keeping people safe.

If you can't stop yourself from reading labeled secrets that you know will trigger you or whatever, maybe you aren't old enough to use the internet.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-01 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
Nah.

Sometimes people's secrets happen to be upsetting or triggering to someone else. If they wanted to be an asshole about it, they wouldn't warn. Or they'd go a step further and spam every thread with triggering content. There's nothing assholish about posting a secret, and I say that as someone who has triggers.

It's a GODDAMN WEB PAGE with ample warnings posted so people who feel "unsafe" from the horrible, horrible pixel monsters can very easily avoid seeing anything that bothers them. All they have to do is STOP FUCKING SCROLLING. The secrets are not going crawl up the page, leap out of anyone's monitor and strangle them. I promise.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-01 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
Posting content that some people might have trouble with, while giving adequate warning to empower those people to avoid that content, is not being an asshole.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-01 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
Don't people have a responsibility to keep themselves safe? By like, skipping over the secrets they know might be triggery because they're marked as triggery? It is literally as easy as the click of a button. If they know that and read triggery secrets anyway, I don't see how anything you or I could do would keep them safe.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-01 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Um, no. I look at it as a two-way street. Trigger secrets are clearly labelled so people who are easily triggered can take their own responsibility and avoid them. Simple as that.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-01 05:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I think we all agree that the best, healthiest way to help people with issues around certain kinds of content is by taking away a venue where they can talk about that content and those issues anonymously.

No, wait, sorry, I meant the opposite of that.
