Re: Canons you hate
And that three-year gap is exactly when I got into HP fanfiction. There was so much being written, all different plots and backgrounds and theories. Deathly Hallows was so different from how I thought it was going to end that I don't think I've reread it at all.

Writing quality, character building, worldbuilding, plotting...by the time the later books came out I'd already read a dozen fics that imo did it better. (I think JKR seriously shot herself in the foot by making them 3rd person limited to Harry's perspective)
