This. I don't understand how you can let anyone "ruin" anything for you. Do I know obnoxious people in my fandoms? Sure, but them being obnoxious has nothing to do with the fandom itself and everything to do with the fact that they're just plain obnoxious people in general and would act that way no matter the topic.
