Basically, what fandoms have ruined canons for you? Whether or not you've even watched/read/played the source material.

All fandoms. ALL. FANDOMS. Supernatural, Welcome to Night Vale, Doctor Who, and Sherlock being the front runners.

Gonna have to go with Sherlock. I've never watched it but I have such irrational hatred for it.

Supernatural, Sherlock, Night vale, and the MCU.

Frozen. I refuse to watch it, watching it reminds me of the hell that exploded over my dashboard over it and makes me feel very upset. It doesn't help that my sister won't stop playing the soundtrack.

I'm not sure if it was the show or the fandom that ruined Sherlock for me. I think maybe the fandom just added to the hate I feel for the show. But it irrationally annoys me when people I follow on tumblr post Sherlock stuff now.

Supernatural, I think.

Master and Commander. At first canon seem easy and effective but its so tedious to load and eventually you just want them to just go stab the french or at least go back to romantic string instrument duets

Anything Sherlock Holmes. The fans are obnoxious and I'm just overwhelmed by all of it. Tolkien stuff too. I'm sick of seeing hobbits, elves, and Lee Pace's face. Also SnK. I'm sick of it and the wank.

Supernatural. Charmed. Anything Buffy-related. The New 52. Once Upon a Time. Arrested Development. Bioshock. SHIELD is getting there.

BBC Sherlock (nothing could ruin ACD canon, it's too ingrained in my head). Fandom/head-canon is the only thing I have left. Canon just ends up disapponting me whenever I watch it.

And, oddly enough, Harry Potter. I unashamedly love fanon-Draco, as long as he defects from his father. I need more than background! Also, I've read so many pre-Hallows stories that try to explain the "power the Dark Lord knows not" that I sometimes forget the actual power was the whole love-sacrifice-protection thing. And I just see some things going way differently. I don't see Luna getting permanently married and having kids.

For a different kind of ruin, I didn't rewatch the Avengers for six months or so because I got hype overload. I guess I need a bit of a break before I rewatch/read something, and I couldn't get one!

Lost fans ruined Lost for me, which is unfortunate because I later learned it was actually a really good show. Trouble is, the fans I knew were all in high school and more worried about how hot all the male characters were, so... yeah, that was my first impression of what I learned was a really deep, philosophical show. :(

BBC Sherlock managed to ruin itself for me through a combination of the fandom, and the show just being overhyped and badly written.

Destiel fans are slowly destroying my love for Supernatural. I could handle the show's steady decline into less-than-stellar quality, but they drive me NUTS.

Kpop fans' rudeness have made me steer clear of Kpop.

The Avengers fandom has basically ruined any interest I would've had in Tom Hiddleston (which is a shame because he seems pretty cool)

GOT, Teen Wolf, etc. etc.

Basically any fandom that's like "OMG OUR STUFF IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST AND ANYTHING ELSE IS SHIT. UGH YOU LIKE THAT THING? OUR THING IS WAY BETTER" which is... most of them, sigh. I have learned that canon is much more enjoyable without fandom.

A little bit with Sherlock I think? I still enjoy the show well enough but I stepped out of the fandom a while ago and I'm happier for it. And I think Supernatural as well.

Disney movies because of people's obsession over princesses
Batman comics because of the batfamily fans in tumblr
And BBC Sherlock, which may be the only I really can't stand

Very rarely does this happen to me because if I hate a fandom that much I just step away from it. SPN probably comes the closest; for a while I didn't want to see it anywhere, I was just so tired of it. Thor fandom is frustrating for me too, because even though it hasn't made me hate the canon sometimes I just don't want to look at Hiddles' face; if I wasn't on tumblr it never would have come to that.

If I had stayed in fandom longer (parts of) Inception probably would've been ruined for me too. I started out loving Arthur and Eames and ended up almost loathing their scenes together; thankfully I've moved past that now, but I don't really like the ship much anymore.

I just avoid the bad parts and everything else works out.

Though, I'm kind of surprised that no one's mentioned MLP.

Sherlock, Hannibal, Teen Wolf, The Vampire Diaries, Game of Thrones, none of which I watch.

Doctor Who for some reason doesn't bother me as much, though I've blacklisted a long list of related terms to bring the volume of Whovian stuff on my dash down to more reasonable levels. Ditto Avengers/MCU.

On the flip side, Harry Potter canon (specifically, everything after OotP) utterly ruined the fandom for me. And the Hobbit movie fandom and canon sort of seem to be immolating themselves together in one spectacular plummeting fireball of "lousy too-long too-speechified adaptation full of shit that wasn't even vaguely hinted at in the books" and "OMG what the fuck is so great about Martin Freeman?"

It's gotta be Supernatural. I watched the first couple seasons, liked it, checked out the fandom and between the declining quality of the show and pushy shippers, I was like eff this. Dean Winchester isn't that great, guys. Cmon...

I forgot to mention the Avengers.

It's usually canons that ruin canons for me, and fandoms that ruin fandoms. If a fandom is being weird, I usually either leave it or hunker down in a smaller, slightly saner end of it.

Canons that have ruined themselves for me, though, include Sherlock and SPN, and possibly Person of Interest, although I've heard things that might incline me to try that one again. SPN just went on too long and was too depressing for me, and Sherlock after S1 was just a goddamn mess that I don't have the patience for.

The fandoms I've left while keeping the source canon would include SGA (megaship burnout, though I go back every so often to look for smaller pairing fic) and Harry Potter (waaaaay too crazy for me).

Doctor Who, because it is fucking everywhere
Danny Phantom, because it's an okay show that the fandom treats as OMG, so amazing!
BBC Sherlock. Mainly for the reaction to Elementary.

I would give real money never to hear or read another fucking word about Breaking Bad.
