I don't care about shipping them but as an icon for the queer representation movement or whatever, I wish we wouldn't use siblings. We're fandom people, so stretching subtext is kind of automatic for us, but for most people they are sisters and they appear as sisters and if you told them "No, they're lesbians and they're in love.", that person is going to either think that you're a creep, or that the homophobes who equate it with incest are right.

It doesn't help when people like Jeremy Irons comes out with stuff like saying if same sex marriage is made legal, sons could marry their fathers.

There are enough confused idiots out there already who don't understand the difference between consensual gay & lesbian relationships and incestuous relationships (or even bestiality). I have genuinely no idea how they mix this stuff up.
