I am a pretty miserable cook. I still can't drive. It is a big damper on my life but I am terrified of driving. One day. One day.

I can't drive either. In Los Angeles. I'm not sure if there's any other place that will give you so much shit about not being able to drive. I did take lessons and had my permit when I was in my teens, but I was then and am now a danger magnet. I tell people I don't drive to save other peoples' lives. Aside from everything known to man running into the street when I try driving (squirrels, dogs, old people, young idiots, etc), I have a very bad attention span and can't focus. I seriously fear for a world where I'm a driver as I am now.

Half the reason I moved to Japan is so I wouldn't have to drive.

I used to be terrified of driving when I was younger and I just didn't do it. But then my husband (who was my then-boyfriend) got a speeding ticket and the traffic judge threw the book at him, taking his license away for a month. I had to learn how to drive in a hurry, since we were living together and I could only bum rides off of my mom for so long. After getting over the initial fear, I found that I actually liked to drive, and I'm a bit of a speed demon now. If I can learn to drive (and I'm a big wimp) you can most certainly do it! \o/

I don't drive either. When I tried to learn as a teenager, I'd end up freaking out trying to remember which pedals to hit, how to use the damn gearstick, and barely missed driving into a ditch.

I'm fine getting around on buses and the occasional taxi.
