I'm sort of the same (pyrophobic), but also sort of the opposite. In that I can't use lighters, or at least normal ones, because the flame is literally sparked right next to my finger and I keep thinking I'm setting my finger on fire and I can't, BUT I can use long matches, because the flame is sparked at the other end of the wood from my fingers. So long as I light stuff quickly, long matches are a thousand times better to me than lighters.

Same here, although I've literally scorched my fingernails with lighters before. I cannot work lighters.

OP

I can work with long matches and am okay with candles, but the striking of the match it almost as scary as the fire itself to me. What happens to the hand holding the box?!
