Re: J. K. Rowling

I believe her saying that in hindsight, she wouldn't have made them a couple. What's really bothering me is how many news stories are headlined with "JKR says that Harry and Hermione should have gotten married". Then the article talks about the R/Hr thing and doesn't mention anything about Harry. Which is making me side-eye all of this even though it does come from an official source.

Yeah, pretty much. I've read so many different variations, and even though they're not wildly different, they're different enough for me to think it's best to react once the actual article is officially published.

Yeah, the only apparent direct quote I've seen doesn't mention Harry at all. I don't get where everyone is getting that she said she thinks she should have hooked up Harry and Hermione? Not that she might not have said that, but... right now it feels like people are just extrapolating? Unless they know something I don't.

That's my sense: !Hermionie/Ron != Hermionie/Harry

It could just be a more realistic idea that sometimes people don't marry their school chums.

Yeah, that's seriously bugging me. I have seen some direct quotes, and Harry wasn't even MENTIONED - including in the articles going, "Rowling thinks that Hermione should have married Harry instead!"

Like, holy fuck. Literally ALL she said is that Hermione and Ron may not be that compatible. Not a single other pairing was implied, no other characters were mentioned. There's kind of some icky implications that, well, Hermione and Ron may not stay together for life, clearly Hermione should have been Harry's - because she's The Girl, and therefore The Love Interest. There weren't big headlines about how Rowling secretly wishes Ron should have stayed with Lavender, right?

(And a teeny tiny bit of me is still hopeful for Hermione/Krum, anyway.)
