Also try lurking in comms for the fandom or where people post fics on tumblr. I found my latest beta that way. Someone offered beta in a discussion thread, I replied.

Every time I jump fandom, I have to find new betas...

Yeah I'm a little worried about finding a beta for the fic I'm writing, since like 90% of SPN fic seems to be Destiel. I've never written SPN fic before, and this is for two minor characters, and I want to make sure it's all in-character and flows properly.

Thanks for the tip! There should be a fandom comm on DW somewhere. :)

Don't worry about minor pairings. There's always loads of people with their own minor pairings who feel the same.

You should probably offer to do beta in return though. You could perhaps offer other fandoms as well if you're not so familiar with SPN.

Another approach that's worked for me in the past is to find authors you like in that fandom and just plain out tell them you admire them and would be so happy if they did a beta for you. That one doesn't work so frequently but it has the advantage that you have an AMAZING writer to be your beta if it does.

How does that work, exactly? Do you offer to beta your editor's fic, or is it a more general thing, like "I'm happy to beta for other people."

You offer to beta your editor's fic in return.

They may not take you up on it, but I think I've betaed in return for most people who've betaed for me. Perhaps not immediately, but eventually.

Thank you so much! You've been really helpful! I've been out of fandom for a long time, and it's all very strange for me, haha. :)
