I feel weird charging to hem people's pants, because it's literally the easiest sewing I can possibly do. But it's something they can't do themselves and are willing to pay for. I probably charge less than they'd pay, but I don't want to go crazy and it's usually just friends or friends of friends. Don't feel bad charging for something you can do that someone else can't.

Hemming pants is the difference between having to get something custom or buying something off the rack for me. If it costs less than the difference between getting something custom made and whatever I bought off the rack, it's totally worth the price to me.

... I live in a country where you usually go to a store to get your pants hemmed though so I might be biased?
