Put up a commissions button. A lot of my favorite comic authors have, and I (and many others) have honestly never minded. It's your work and your time and your effort, and you have the right to make money off it. My only regret is usually that I can't afford to get commissions off all the people I'd like, though I have paid for a couple, and they are seriously wonderful. Heck, if one of my favorite webcomics would start again and all I had to do was buy a commission, I'd do it like, yesterday.

So, um. Try it, anon, okay? Sure, it might not pan out, but you never know. And it can't hurt.
