You can like something without being blind to its flaws yanno.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-04 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
You can also not be a sheep and bleat that something is a flaw because the herd says so.

How is what you are doing any different? You're just bleating a differnt tune.

There's only one thing more annoying than people who overuse the word 'problematic': people who use 'sheep' to talk about other people

I'm surprised it wasn't "sheeple".

Ugh. All this oneupmanship 3edgy5me

(All of that is sarcasm. I'm agreeing with you.)
starphotographs: ...I'm not that bad, though. And I don't even light things on fire! Well, not regularly... (Izaya (devious))

I think "sheep" and "sheeple" are hilarious because tinhats use them so much!

I can't read it without thinking of the xkcd comic.

Yeah, I know.

But you can also acknowledge something has flaws without feeling the need to talk about it endlessly and over-analyze it. I like doing it wth some series, but I really don't feel compelled to say, dwell on the way women are represented in every series or film I ever liked.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-04 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
That is a bit more sensible than what OP seems to be saying.

Yeah, there's lots of middle ground in how you enjoy your media. People seem unaware that there's a wide field of dealing with "problematic" content, not just the Two Holy Approaches and there shall be no others before them or something.

Ultimately, everyone has to find their own middle ground. I like some of the analysis (Dean's parentification, oh god), but others are just "Well, that's nice to know, kinda sucks, tuck it away".

You can also absolutely not give a fuck and get sick and tired of hearing about it.
