This was back in the mid-90s. I don't know who introduced the word to the students, but there was a lot of talk about rules and behaviour and I was considered the "weird" one because I didn't really fit in.

I was in middle school in the late nineties and I doubt many of my classmates knew what inappropriate meant and nobody talked about rules. Did you go to school with The Delightful Children Down the Lane?

You can always content yourself with the fact that you have better taste in music than those pretentious twats.
