A little piece of me dies inside when I walk out of the entrances to the hospital I work at and I see patients on IVs and fucking OXYGEN TANKS standing there smoking.

Nevermind that technically it's illegal to smoke within a certain distance of the doors anyway - and that it's a hospital so a little common sense and sympathy for sick people should come into play here - I just boggle like... really? I understand smoking is hard to quit for some people and that quite frankly some people just enjoy it. I'm not going to tell someone what to do with their own body, but... can you not use a nicotine patch at least until you're not on death's door?

Argh, yes, while I was having chemo, cigarette smoke turned from "nasty smell" to "instant vomiting" which was super fun when I had to go into the hospital through paths lined with smokers. I think I splashed a few of them...

Not that I expect them to quit while they're already under serious stress, but I wish there was a proper separate space for them.
