Did we watch the same movie? I thought their parents kept them locked away. It really never made sense to me why they locked away Anna too.

Remember in the coronation scene when Anna asked Elsa if things could be like that again (ie people coming over) and Elsa said they couldn't?

It really never made sense to me why they locked away Anna too.

Very little about the movie's backstory makes any sense, which is why I couldn't get into it, but I came away with the impression that Anna probably got ignored a lot as a child. Younger kid -- i.e., not the heir -- doesn't need the special attention that Elsa's powers do, cannot be allowed to know what's going on with her sister because...the trolls said so, I guess. It probably started as nobody taking the time to take her out and socialize her, and by the time she was old enough to go out on her own she'd internalized that it Was Not Allowed.
