Re: Stuff in fandom/fandoms you're tired of hearing about.
How so many women in SPN die (though I saw an analysis that showed MANY more men die in the show).

eta: Admittedly I'm in no position to be debating math but it doesn't seem like that post addresses it proportionally, the author's note says as much? Plus they say
"But if the numbers tell us anything it’s that, across the board, there are more men on this set than women." ... "So six men, in the scheme of things, don’t really make a blip in the gender ratio we see. Six women, on the other hand? The show’s become a sausage fest."
If more men die but are so better represented as to still outnumber women greatly, deaths included, then isn't it still kind of a valid complaint that women are more likely to get the axe?
Re: Stuff in fandom/fandoms you're tired of hearing about.
But I guess the writers think we just want to continue watching Sam and Dean's pissing matches? IDK

I have to admit that I used to be a "Dean Girl" or whatever, but I'm in the same boat as you. Sam and Dean's relationship is the same boring recycled shit over and over again so I really don't care. Castiel actually has his own issues which are interesting.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-05 03:18 am (UTC)(link)I mean, the show managed to produce an entire episode that had not a single actress credited. That is beyond ridiculous, in my opinion. And if you look at the IMDB credits page, of the top ten actors, 8 are male. If the number of secondary characters helping Dean and Sam were balanced between male and female, then the numbers of deaths being balanced would be fine for me. It was the fact that the male characters tended to stick around and there really weren't female characters to balance it out (partially due to them not being created, partially due to them being killed off) that the female character deaths bothered me so much.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-05 03:29 am (UTC)(link)Not to mention that damn near every female character of significance was killed off just to give the boys a reason to angst. That's why it bugs me.
