Her death was pretty sad and senseless. :,(

Yeah, I think that's the thing that made it worse. The fact that her death meant nothing made it harder to deal with.

Yesterday's Enterprise timeline 4-EVA

(but Data having original-timeline Yar hologram, in spite of the fact that it's invoking The Naked Now, made me all ;^;)

This hologram (and the attendant wangst) also featured very prominently in an early ST:TNG Pocket Book. Data got emotions (this was years before the chip was even featured on the show) and his first emotion was his overwhelming love for Tasha...and then his world-crushing grief. D-:

I read one like that. It's a book where Data is literally made human ("Metamorphosis") and another person realizes that, as a human being, Data has internalized the feelings he had as "love" for Tasha.

Damn, that book made me weep. I re-read it couple of years ago and still really enjoyed it.
