This is a fic thing instead of canon, but: it bugs when people describe Derek in Teen Wolf as having callouses. He can heal from almost anything and you think he has callouses on his fingers/hands? I get it's supposed to be sexy and all about sensation, but it annoys me. The exception is human AUs, but I see it in regular fic too.

Callouses aren't wounds though?

I don't think it has to be a wound. They can heal bruises. Their tats have to be burned in to stay or they heal immediately. I doubt callouses would be any different.

But then all born werewolves would be as soft as a baby straight from the womb. That's a bit creepy.

"Do you exfoliate?"

"No, I was born this way." *Cries*

LOL You make a good point. Who knows? Maybe they can choose not to let something automatically heal. cause I'm pretty sure a female born werewolf doesn't regenerate her hymen over and over.

Yeah, who knows? I doubt it will ever come up in the show.

The thing is, it also poses a question about elasticity of the skin. Does their skin bounce back all the way and not have wear and tear? Because if so they not only would have no wrinkles but they would looks eerily young for whatever age they are/are passing as.

...We need to go deeper.

I can't believe I'm going all meta about Teen Wolf :p

Peter has obviously aged, so there has to be some point that their skin starts rebelling, so to speak. Otherwise, all born werewolves would look teens/20s their whole lives. And we've seen Derek's mother. While she didn't look old, she also didn't look in her 20s. I doubt Jeff Davis & co. have given this as much thought as we are!

Yeah, therefore I'm gonna say they can get callouses. Their healing factor is magic anyway. I'm going to assume it somehow differentiates between "good" change in skin and "bad" change in skin. Something natural, like wrinkles or callouses, don't get healed but something unnatural, like tattoos or stabbing, does?

I doubt Jeff Davis & co. have given this as much thought as we are!

I doubt that too.

Makes sense, otherwise, it would be really hard for them to ever get a haircut. (Not that they seem to get a lot of those in the series, but...)

Hahaaaa omg I forgot about haircuts.

I am not imagining them not being able to and I am laughing my ass off.

Maybe it's only something that makes you bleed? Cuts, bruises and tattoos all involve blood, but calluses don't.

Now I want fic of someone appreciating how smooth and soft and flawless his skin is.

If I had £1 every time a guy is described as having calloused hands in fic I would be fucking rich, it's everywhere.

But yeah someone who can regenerate would more than likely have standard soft skin, unless they had sustained damage to it before the regeneration kicked in, but if it's always been there then chances are they wouldn't have rough skin.
