Yes, she said some pretty regrettable stuff about how much she hates fanart and thinks that the people who create it are all creepy and terrible.

But she was put on the spot. She apologized for it. She says now that fandom is lovely no matter what they create. What else do you want?

...please tell me you're being sarcastic. The black humour wank has been beaten to death here already, and she's really not wrong, tho' I'm sure in retrospect it was a bit of "Whoops, just bit the hand that feeds me, better make nice!" on her part.

I have to admit that I kind of roll my eyes at fandom's reaction for things like this. Pretty much all non-fandom people are gonna think it's weird to draw fanart or write fanfiction of fictional characters fucking each other, and I say this as someone who writes explicit fanfic. You kind of just have to accept most people are going to think you're a weirdo and move on. I think the reason fandom gets so upset when actors say this is because they seek an unhealthy amount of validation from them.

That must be the case. I think it's also an issue of people discussing this stuff in fandom echo chambers where everyone is equally into it, and then not knowing if or how to let it bleed out in non-fandom spaces. I don't think people should feel they need to be in the closet about fandom - I'm certainly not - but it shouldn't be a big surprise that not everyone is going to be interested in (or at least blase about) the porn.
