Yup. Agree with you all the way. She's not perfect, she's never claimed to be perfect, and the hate she gets is scary and ridiculous.

She did claim to play the games, though, and then instead of using the money she asked for to do that (like she said she was going to), she just outright stole other people's Let's Play footage without ever crediting them and didn't even watch those Let's Plays all the way through before trying to give a full, in-depth critique of the games. Ia that people are scary and ridiculous with some of the stuff they say to and about her, but she is absolutely not a good authority on gaming, nor is she academically honest at ALL.

Do we know that she didn't play the games? She could have played it without recording it and then took footage from Let's Plays later because it was easier.

No, it's pretty well-known by this point that she never played most of the games she critiques. Even her defenders admit it.

I've yet to see anyone actually come out with any solid proof other than "we all know it's true" type of statements.

The fact she's misidentified games and what happens in games.

The former especially. You don't play through a game and then miss basic data, the sort of stuff you can't avoid in an actual playthrough because it's part of the main path. It's not like "oh I didn't go this optional way or I skipped the cutscenes" stuff, it's stuff she couldn't have possibly missed... unless she never saw it in the first place.

I can try to find examples if you'd like, but to anybody who's played the games she's reviewing, it's really, really obvious. To the point that, as mentioned above, even those that like her acknowledge that she didn't play the games.

If you could find examples, that would be pretty awesome, actually. I haven't seen any evidence for the claim that she even stole LP footage to be true. It's not that I wouldn't believe it if it wasn't in front of me, but I just haven't seen it, so it's kind of hard to believe at this point.

I'm kind of confused, though - even if she didn't play the game, she would have to watch through the LP in order to find the footage she wants, right? So even if she didn't PLAY the game, she should have still gotten all the facts from the LP, right?

I guess what I'm getting at is that I think it's possible that she played the games, even watched a few LPs, but just didn't get it, or all the details.

I've played some of the games she talks about, and trust me, she very obviously hasn't played those games. She gets basic facts about them wrong.

I especially love all the talk about how she stole Let's Play footage. I've seen that claim brought up a hundred times already, but no one can back it up. They don't even attempt to. They just say it as though it's as obvious as saying the sky is blue. No need to back up what we say with actual effing evidence, nuh-uh.

I know what you'll say in response: "could be coincidence! Could just happen to be the same part of each game!" But notice how HP, MP, number of bullets, times, etc. are all exactly the same.

How are the responses creepy? I see a bunch of people giving reasons why they aren't particularly fond of her. And given that many people on this comm criticize male vloggers as well, I'm not sure that you can point to their criticism of this individual as evidence that they're "holding her to a higher standard" and are "defensive because she's a woman." I will also add that, if one gives money to a person, and that person then seems to not do what they said they would do with that money, one absolutely has a valid reason to be upset.

Honestly, it seems to me like you think that she shouldn't be criticized because she's a woman, and equate any criticism that crops up to misogyny, rather than differentiating between the two.
