You know, I've seen the stuff you listed, but most of times in the context of the story it worked and I've never found it skeevy, sexist, creepy, gross, offensive or whichever else is tumblr's favourite word of the day. Quite the opposite in fact, it was indeed sweet and romantic. Maybe you should find another job?

Though re-reading the secret, actually I DON'T think I've come across the stuff you listed. More like you interpreted it very differently from what I did. For example: "a man telling a woman her appearance, etc." to you = automatically sexist, context be damned; to me = the context of the story presents said woman as objectively needing a makeover, so she's doing good by listening to the guy's advice. There's nothing inherently sexist about that.
Same for many others. "The constant assumption that everyone wants children"... the story isn't trying to think for you, nor should you be trying to think for the characters. The characters in the story want children? Cool, I want children too someday. You don't, OP? That's fine, it's a story, not The Manual™ to life. I hope the point I'm trying to make is clear to anyone reading since I don't want to turn this into a wall of text.
I do still think you should find another job however, you don't sound like you're suited for this one.

Yeah OP, sorry but after some thinking I strongly suspect you're twisting things and making them out to be something they're not. Wouldn't be the first time I've seen that happen, sadly.

"objectively needing a makeover"

lol

That's what established canons are, anon.

"Objectively" needing a makeover? No one NEEDS anything that is not required to keep them alive. You saying that there are situations in which women objectively need makeovers is basically saying that appealing to some asshole's standards of attractiveness is essential to her survival. Just... WTF?

There are some things that context does not excuse. Misogyny presented as normal and right is one of those things. Sorry to burst your bubble, douchebag.

Why do sjws always have so many problems with following a simple discourse and basic reading comprehension?

the context of the story presents said woman as objectively needing a makeover, so she's doing good by listening to the guy's advice

That moves the blame from the characters to the story. It doesn't help the story.

I don't really want to meet you, you fucking creep.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-06 05:45 am (UTC)(link)
That's okay, I don't want to meet you too.

Sounds like you're one of the (many, many) people this stuff is geared towards. For others, no amount of context makes certain tropes easy to swallow. Different strokes and so on.
