Husky wank?

To my surprise, about 70% of the secrets I submit become wanky. Usually it's over some minor thing I mentioned. I really don't know how it happens. Sometimes I understand why (something carelessly worded or some throwaway line that turns out to be a sensitive issue with the fandom) but other times I'm just wondering what happened to the actual content of my secret.

One time there was a secret about the facial markings of puppies in sled-dog movies, and the thread exploded.

Wow. I'm actually kind of impressed that that could instigate wank. But then, I once accidentally instigated wank where discussion went on for like three days just by saying I want an alternative to a pet dog so maybe I shouldn't be.

I think dogs are a berserk button here.

Yeah, that's what I got told afterwards when I was pondering how I could have worded it differently.

...probably told that by me, come to think of it. I find a phrasing I like and stick with it indefinitely.

Wash your mouth out with soap nonny! What I wouldn't give for one of the barn cats from my childhood right now. Our "little" verminous problem would be nonexistent. :-(

(Don't mind dogs, as long as they behave themselves. Nothing worse than a poorly-socialized pooch IMO.)

Since husky wank, dogs have been considered a hot-button topic around here, and I think your thread was included in that. Unfortunately. I remember that and I felt bad for how ridiculous it got.

I made that secret about not liking how people forget AOS Scotty probably killed a dog mostly to test my theory that dog-related secrets => wank. It worked! It was a different kind of wank from the husky wank, though.

I think also people think the dog thing is funny so when they see anything dog-related they create it. To keep the tradition alive, I guess.

I found it today because I was looking for a crack ficlet I wrote that just so happened to be posted on the TMNT secret that same day.

I once submitted a secret about pretending to be a waterbender in the shower. I added a little joke about showering naked. Y'all went off the charts with that one like it was the biggest deal in the world.

Kind of funny how such little things can start such fights, isn't it? I guess maybe it could be that really serious stuff sometimes looks like it's way too obvious as wankbait, but sometimes you start on an innocent topic and ten minutes later people are name calling and you're wondering how you even got there. Why do we have to fight so much anyway?! D:

Because people on here take themselves too seriously.

I don't mind if my secrets (or my posts) start wank, but that particular incident baffled me.

Yeah, I've actually had that happen to me irl.

Like in one class we had a polite and mature discussion about abortion, but when we somehow got on the topic of babies being born with accents all hell broke lose.

I'm sorry, but I just pictured babies with accent marks floating above their heads. And then I thought it was adorable.

I have no idea how people took that line seriously. I thought it was pretty clear it was a joke. =_=

I thought so as well. It wasn't a great joke, but some of the responses were just over the top.
