Well, there CAN be more to work with, at least. :P

Not everyone is particularly complex or interesting, but I think adults tend to be more so on average.

I think a lot of late teen/early twenties people are very interesting, but as they grow older, they allow life to compress and narrow their minds. I say this as someone approaching 40. I struggle with it myself and have been disappointed by so many people I know.

Maybe it depends on the person?

Personally, I feel like I only started to get more interesting after age 21, and in the last two or so years in particular. I know my emotional life feels complicated and intense in a way it never did before. Everything used to be kind of one-note in a way where it's really obvious, in retrospect, that my brain was still under construction. :P "Aw crud, my headphones broke!" "FOOD YAY!" "I'm kinda cold..." "That thing is a pretty color!" And yeah, I still think/feel that kind of thing, because that's part of life, but it seems like the more I live, the more I'm able to feel and understand. I'm enjoying it! I appreciate a lot of things that I couldn't have before.
