But, yeah, someone needs to tell Jared to take a breather on twitter. Twitter isn't a confession booth where what is said there stays there. Wait, that's Vegas. Anyway, same idea. Twitter is rather a bullhorn hooked up to two story speakers. If you are an actor, what you say there can hurt your career. If he doesn't want to start burning bridges, he needs to step back for a while.

It might have been better -- or it might have been worse, because without all the ready-made teen drama filler, it would have to make up its own, and some shows are better at that than others.

Who really cares if it's racist, anyway. Listening to music isn't going to hurt anyone. You just have to avoid letting some people know, if they're the type to give you a hard time or hate you for it (or maybe not, those people might not be worth it, anyway).

Ah, a Death Note secret. Takes me back to the golden LJ days of FS, when every post had secrets for miles and the fucked-up ones were all mixed up with the regular ones and putting "I ship it" secrets in the failbar (did we even have a name for it back then!?) was a super controversial decision. :')

The characters on TV don't get more attention than the characters in SF&F books because the TV characters' sexuality is presented in subtext and baiting instead of explicitly. They get more attention because no one gives a shit about SF&F books anymore and everyone watches TV. I wish it wasn't so but it is.

(Okay some of it is probably because there's more subtext. But I don't think that's the primary cause)

I don't see why any reasonable person would call you homophobic when you have the same standards for het and slash. I know there are unreasonable people who might but can't you just ignore them?

I keep running into this problem where I can't relate to people who have this horror of being called sexist or homophobic or whatever. Change your behavior if you agree with their reasoning or ignore them if you don't or argue with them if you want. Same as any other time you disagree with someone.
