I've followed that twitter since he got it and honestly don't remember him saying all this crotchety, hostile stuff before he started having kids. Some people can't adapt to parenthood without suddenly acting like they're about forty years older and needing to tell you every questionable observation they have about how the whole world has gone crazy. I don't think it really rises to the levels you're raging about, but he appears to be going down the path of Uncle So-and-So You Only Talk To On Facebook Or At Thanksgiving. And I don't know where you're getting flat-faced when he has the pointiest nose on television.

yeah, i noticed that he only started spewing nasty shit after he had his first kid too.

Yeah, it seems to have gotten a lot worse lately. I don't know if it's the kids or if there's something going on behind the scenes but it does make me wonder if something happened.

probably the people who see some of the shit he's posted and validating him and agreeing with him for what he's saying. for all the people who realize he says something fucked up, there's even more who pull the "it's your own twitter say what you want, don't listen to them they're being too sensitive!!!" card.

He has legions of desperate fangirls, as seen in this thread alone, so yeah, this :/

having a large group of people leap to your defense over everything, willing to pay exorbitant amounts of money for just a photo with you, i imagine all of that stuff goes to your head in a really bad way.

Considering that the only thing I can immediately think of when it comes to what I've seen him in, is Gilmore Girls, yeah I can see that happening. I know he's done other things, but if we're talking a large enough fan base that you would be recognized for, Gilmore Girls and Supernatural are it.

You have a strange idea of "desperate fangirls". I came hoping for wank of the HE'SPERFECT nature, and instead I find a lot of "well, yeah, they're stupid things to say but whatever" remarks.

I see no desperate fangirls at all. Most people responding don't even seem to have money on a horse when it comes to Jared.

NAYRT

I don't, particularly--the only one of the actors who particularly interests me is Misha, and even then I wouldn't call myself a full-fledged "Minion"--but I do think people are complicated and that the internet has a tendency to bring out the worst in a lot of people.

Jared gives every appearance of being a very nice guy in person, but he's also a 30-ish dude from Texas, where some fairly backward attitudes (though far from universal!) do hold some sway.

I don't get why he, or anyone, has to be either a saint or evil incarnate; most people have some of both in them, and I don't think he's any exception.

Parenthood can be stressful for anyone, and a lot of really vile things get said about Jared, his wife, his kids, and Jensen and family as well; often the two are tied together in some of the darker corners of fandom in ways that I would describe as unsavory (not because of the theory that they're gay, but because of the ever-more-elaborate conspiracy theories and the sheer vitriol that have grown up around the notion.) It's gone as far as death threats against the wives and kids.

Jared has been known to jump off the stage at a con, navigate through a crowd and hug a little girl just because she asked why Genevieve never goes to cons and said she is pretty. Imagine what else he's been hearing about his wife that made him react that way. Imagine what's been said that stopped Gen from attending cons in the first place, when she was a major side character on the show in her own right.

Even people who don't have to deal with that kind of bullshit can lose faith in humanity and become more cynical as they get older; it wouldn't surprise me a bit if it's happening to Jared.
