I've read mangas which centered around gender and LGBT stuff. Just because a majority in some country thinks one way, it doesn't mean there exists no one with a different view.

I don't think anyone has said "all Japanese people think the same way" though? There are LGBT people and there is some support, it's just not a reflection of the majority public view.
