I agree that the holier-than-thou attitude is annoying and needs to die but I don't see why people should stop feeling sad about this? YA taking over bookstores is a thing that is happening and it's ok to have feelings about it, whether it makes you happy, sad or indifferent.

Where I live, the YA section is usually about the same size as the Sci-Fi/Fantasy section. Both sections are dwarfed by the Romance, Mystery and General Fiction sections. Then there is all the non-Fiction sections.

Generally, the only places I see the YA being close to the same size as the "adult" books are in stores that only have a small book sections (like grocery or discount stores).
