Yeah, I need to go colonize my friend's couch in New Jersey to finish playing my save of this game. *needs a PS3*

I love the FFXIII combat system. It's tied with the soundtrack as my favorite part of the game as a whole.

It does take a LONG time for the game to take the training wheels off, though. I remember telling a friend how many chapters you have to complete before you're allowed to fully able to customize your party and she was really disappointed.

I had a real thing for this game's combat, I really enjoyed it, once they got powers and the paradigm thing that is. This is actually pretty unusual for me since I'm usually in it for the storyline.

I liked the gameplay for this game, it just took SO long. Not that I don't appreciate a nice, long RPG, because I certainly do, but this game felt never ending to me.

I would like to go back, but my old saves are now useless so I'd have to restart the game and the thought of that is painful. Watching this game would be excruciating, imo; there's just too much of it and the gameplay would be so tiresome to watch. (Now if you could skip the gameplay and just watch the cutscenes and the like, that would be cool.)

I started and stopped this game twice and hated it. Then I picked it up a third time, powered through the beginning, and by the end I absolutely loved it. It's probably one of my favorites now. I don't know why it took me so long. I think it took a while for me to wrap my head around the battle system (cause it was so different from all the other games) but once it clicked I throughly enjoyed it. :)

I love the game AND the battle system. They managed to improve on it slightly in the sequel, too.

It's no secret that I went from "hmm I liked elements of this game but it's slow brewing hmm hmm" to having XIII, and LR as some of the most important games of my life.

LR's battle system is too different to be compared, but I genuinely preferred the strategy of XIII over XIII-2. XIII-2 felt far more streamlined and user-friendly, but XIII had the emphasis on battling based on snappy and planning rather than trying to stretch out each battles. I had so many boss fights that required a complete different take to go from 25 minutes unbeatable to 3 to 5 minutes.

I also loved how the battle system was about about directing a team than fighting on your own with two allies. It worked so well with the theme of the game.

Oh man, I love this game so much. :)

I'm such a bad gamer, it took me 2 hours to defeat the final boss.

But it was so awesome.

I don't know if I'd call you a "bad gamer". FFXIII is one of those games that a battle could take me so long that I died of time limit doom, then the second time around I get it with a new set of plans and just nail the fight within minutes.

That's something missing about Lightning Returns.
