It's no secret that I went from "hmm I liked elements of this game but it's slow brewing hmm hmm" to having XIII, and LR as some of the most important games of my life.

LR's battle system is too different to be compared, but I genuinely preferred the strategy of XIII over XIII-2. XIII-2 felt far more streamlined and user-friendly, but XIII had the emphasis on battling based on snappy and planning rather than trying to stretch out each battles. I had so many boss fights that required a complete different take to go from 25 minutes unbeatable to 3 to 5 minutes.

I also loved how the battle system was about about directing a team than fighting on your own with two allies. It worked so well with the theme of the game.

Oh man, I love this game so much. :)

I'm such a bad gamer, it took me 2 hours to defeat the final boss.

But it was so awesome.

I don't know if I'd call you a "bad gamer". FFXIII is one of those games that a battle could take me so long that I died of time limit doom, then the second time around I get it with a new set of plans and just nail the fight within minutes.

That's something missing about Lightning Returns.
