I think most folks were too busy hating on Mockingjay for its 1st person limitations and random tragedies to even think about why Katniss was even the way she was.

One of my friends went from "OMG Katniss fukkin roxxx" to "why is this stupid bitch leading this crazy mission like this?!?!?!" before settling on "oh well, it's just another crappy YA novel, Battle Royale was probably better."
