My friend is pretty much this, and I guess it's mostly from her ADHD but still it really sucks because she goes on and on about how everything is someone's fault and will never shut up about the 7 guys she's seeing but still needs someone to tell her what this text means etc, etc.
And when I finally get to say something about my day she's like "that's nice" and then starts talking about something else. Sometimes I'm even trying to say something and and she starts a new conversation because she has so much going on with her life.
The conversations are almost always about her and almost always shallow.

The mystery to me is how people who are so self-centered have so much going on in their lives. You'd think they wouldn't be able to get on or have so many misadventures.

From someone with ADHD, trust me, that doesn't have anything to do with it. What ADHD will do is cause you to forget something someone told you five minutes ago or make you zone out temporarily during a conversation, it doesn't make you hopelessly self-centered. That's just being an asshole.
