What's really funny to me is that I'm on the opposite end of that spectrum - because I tend to criticize without meaning anything personal, I take criticism that way...which means more than once, people have intentionally insulted me and I completely missed it. Namely, it would be something like calling me ugly, and I would shrug it off as just a commentary on my appearance, only to realize later that it was meant to be a commentary on ME as a person. Even when people called me "stupid", because I'm so used to needing to stop and account for people's emotional reactions, I default to assuming they are just saying that because they are frustrated with a bad idea I have right now. Most of the time, that's the case, but every now and then it turns out they weren't just reacting, they were actually insulting me as a person. o.O
