Aw man, OP. 'Midnight' is my absolute favorite episode. I could give or take the others, but 'Midnight'... It hits me right in the gut every time I watch it.

But anyway, it seems like you're more character-oriented than plot-oriented, which is cool. You don't have to like things just because lots of other people do.

I mostly just spend that episode thinking it would be so much better if Donna were there.

I'll admit that the first time I saw it, I was like, "...but what about Donna?" But then I got so wrapped up in it that I no longer cared.

I think that had to do more with their contracts and the timing for filming. Catherine was filming Turn Left, which David wasn't really in, and David was filming Midnight, which Catherine wasn't really in.

Yeah, but that's like half the point of the episode! The Doctor without his companion to be the buffer for him and how that gets him into trouble.

I know. I know its a good episode. That's why its a secret.

Its just that for me one of the things I love most about Doctor Who is the way the Doctor and current companion play off each other and interact. It just seems like I can't enjoy episodes where that interplay is missing.

I had kind of a crappy day, yesterday. I would have loved to have Donna riding along in my car giving me a running commentary!
