I only ever learned which is which through fandomsecrets; there was a secret awhile back with Dean's head photoshopped onto Cinderella's body, and Sam and Castiel were fighting over him. That's how I remember which one Dean is, and I get the other brother through process of elimination.

Dean is the one who apparently-isn't-actually-short-but-looks-short-standing-next-to-the-other-one.
