wow, they have seven seasons planned? that just boggles my mind. i can't imagine how they're going to drag out the plot that long, tbh.

They have three novels to adapt as one season each starting with season 4, and they're only doing thirteen episodes a season. They don't need to drag anything out.

Huh, that may change my opinion on the topic. Since a lot of shows do 20 episodes, it's more dragged out. Hopefully having 13 episodes means they have to tighten the plot & writing.

Yeah, a lot of shows are doing 23 now, and it's pretty much overkill. 13 gives you no time for filler.

true, but it's not like the books can't be summed up in less than seven seasons. the show doesn't really drag out serial killer plots, so i can't imagine (for example) red dragon taking up more than a few episodes.

I can. *shrug* They've talked about doing Red Dragon as a miniseries-length thing, but even if they didn't, they're out to adapt those stories and make them fit with the prequel stuff they've already done, not just sum them up. Seven seasons at 13 episodes each doesn't even come out to a hundred episodes. It's just not as long as it sounds.
