KLK is overflowing with fanservice and ridiculousness that I don't particularly care about "equal treatment" and accept the skew. It does confuse me that some of these folk sound like they were looking to this show to subvert anything. Of all things to consider, it's KLK, the blatantly unrepentant showy show about showiness?

This. Anything it subverts is entirely accidental. I welcome subversive analyses as long as the fans writing them keep that in mind.

While I didn't like the really questionable scene between Satsuki and her Mom, the point where the clothes became aliens further cemented how seriously the show takes itself (to me). So yep, agreed.
