Bullshit. If anything, Martin goes out of his way to avoid having the main characters raped even in situations where it would be likely to occur. Example: Arya in the second book somehow not being touched even though the Mountain's men raped all the village women, Sansa not being touched despite being at the mercy of creeps like Joffrey and Petyr, Catelyn being killed outright instead being raped first, etc.

That's a good point; on the other hand it's tiresome, the way the threat of rape keeps getting held over Brienne's head in some way, in every one of her chapters. If it's not her constant wariness (which is plausible, okay), it's the way someone like Randyll Tarly rubs her face in it, both at Bitterbridge and at Mooton.

Rape World. Perhaps they should subtitle these novels with that.

Well, first, I'd like to see your statistics regarding rape in medieval worlds; I see no reason why the Freys would have chosen to rape her first. They could have, sure, but they also could have wanted everyone dead as fast as possible. I don't see it as more likely. Sansa's virginity is being guarded for a specific reason on the part of Littlefinger and Joffrey seems to have a really weird relationship with sex, having possibly molested Tommen and his primary sexual outlet with Sansa being tearing her clothes off as she's beaten.

I might not be remembering something about Arya, but you do have a point there.
