(Anonymous) 2014-02-12 04:32 am (UTC)(link)Your point still stands about a lack of resolution, though; that really hurt The X-Files in the later seasons. I think the key to successful multi-season arcs/myth arcs/long-awaited payoffs tends to be a competent writer or team of writers, who know what their end goal is and don't drag the waiting out past its welcome.
On an on-topic note, I definitely don't think Hannibal should go for seven seasons. I think it'd be much better with a tighter, more contained story. Don't kill this good thing pls Fuller.

I'm not against story arcs, even multi-season ones. But so many shows don't seem to do it very well. And, again resolution... So many shows bring back the same old villains or rehash conflicts that were long since dead, which makes those previous story lines feel unresolved.
