Anyone got ASOIAF fic recs?
(Anonymous) 2014-02-13 12:05 am (UTC)(link)Alternatively, any published-fiction recommendations? I've just read the entire series back-to-back and y'know when you've been immersed in one story for so long that afterwards, everything else you pick up just fails to grab you? So something new to sink my teeth into would be great! Especially fond of fantasty and historical fiction but I'll give anything a whirl :)

I haven't read any other books by her but I'm going to move through the series I think.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-13 12:27 am (UTC)(link)Guy Gavriel Kay for the epic fantasy with bunches of world building. Dave Duncan for clever, plotty books with lots of swordfighting. Robin Hobb's Assassin and Tawny Man trilogies for fantasy with shape-shifters that will break your heart.

Thank you! :D

For the love of fuck, don't read The Wheel of Time. It's awful.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-13 01:09 am (UTC)(link)There's also saga literature, from the period itself: Njal's Saga, Egil's Saga, and The Saga of the People of Laxardal are some of the best known.
You might also like The Tale of the Heike.
