Most of the really huge wank in HP all happened in the het sections. For those of us who were in the fandom right around the time of Cassie Claire and MsScribe, but were not avid followers of the BNFs, or deeply in the H/G-H/Hr shipping war, it passed us by with not a lot of disturbance.

And I do count myself as having been in a "remote" place, since I was mostly shipping Harry and the older generation male characters (Sirius, Remus, Snape, Lucius, Voldemort).

Ahh, see, I was smack in the middle of all of those things, though I never cared that much about the Cassie Claire wank - however, I definitely heard about it.

Can I ask how you shipped Harry/Voldemort? I'm not trying to start wank (I'm so past that now), I'm just really curious. Was it about the hatesex or was it more exploring their similarities?

It tended to be a fair bit exploring similarities, with Harry going Dark plots, or Harry being mistreated by the Light plots. I'm sure there were hatesex fics aplenty, but they really aren't my thing.
