I've gotten terrible art in all the big bangs I've participated in. Though I did get one lovely lovely perfect vid as well. But I was writing rarepairs in most of of them or AUs so it's not that big of a surprise.

Plus...and I hate to say this but it's true...when big bangs lets the artists see who the authors are and pick who they wants? Yeaaah, the best artists tend to flock to the BNFs.

Wait, they do that? I thought most bigbands were blind picks, where you don't know who you got until after everyone has chosen?

It seems to depend on the fandom and whose running it. I ran one once and was called horrible things for things like making it a blind lotto based on what the artist would and wouldn't draw.

I'd expect those to be the only considerations. Obviously that's naive of me, given the horrible reaction you got.
