I've never read that book, but I'm going to echo the overrated-ness of "How Soon Is Now." I love Morrissey and the Smiths, but it's never been one of my favorite songs. (I actually quite enjoy t.A.T.u's cover of the song more than the original.)

Favorites of mine are "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out," "This Charming Man," "Ask," "The Headmaster Ritual," and "Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before."
