I get that about steampunk stuff. Genuine Urban Fantasy I can take or leave, it's not my favorite but if it's highly rec'd I'll look into synopses, see if I'm into it. But if it's steampunk, I'm not going to read it no matter how much I'm told "But this one's different!" Especially if it's suggested as an alternate history rec. NOPE.
