It looks too stiff. You can tell that there's a significant amount of product in it, which means it requires taming, which means it is imperfect.

(And yes, I know that Cecil is learning to accept that Carlos is imperfect. But his hair isn't, dammit!)

I think he's adorable, but I've always imagined Carlos having really full hair. The way his is slicked back in this picture doesn't do it for me, but again, he IS cute.

(The new actor who plays Carlos has LOVELY hair, and I'm totally fine imagining him as Carlos. However any headcanon is fine! Variety is the spice of life, etc.)

He pinged me as Hispanic (albeit with lighter skin than my Carlos headcanon -- the lighting of the shot makes it hard to tell exactly how much lighter). But I, like you, don't actually know who he is and am hoping someone will show up in this comment thread with the guy's name.

There are people on Tumblr who will pan any lighter-than-their-personal-headcanon Carlos as "white", even if he's clearly not supposed to be, so that's not a great yardstick for judgment...

Well, yeah, tumblr is stupid and I'm pretty sure has never actually cared about learning anything about the people they're offended for. Like, there was a picture of a girl who was doing Día de Muertos makeup and all these white people were shitting on her for cultural appropriation and how she was a horrible person. She replied to them saying simply. "I'm Mexican." The dumbasses.

Ugh, I hate that that stuff happens.

I was browsing through a tumblr the other day and a young woman had sent in an ask that just made me want to scream at people. She's apparently Punjabi, but she looks white, and she was seriously worried and tying herself in knots over whether or not she was engaging in cultural appropriation when she wore Punjabi clothing and participated in Punjabi traditions. Thankfully, the person running the blog is sensible and was like, "that's your heritage! It's not appropriation!" But I was like...holy shit, tumblr, this is what you've done to people. You've scared them into thinking that they can't celebrate their own culture because they don't look "correct!"

Yeah. I don't even know how deal with that part of tumblr so I normally don't. They can be really horrible.

That story though? That's so depressing.

It is definitely not the first time I have heard something like that, though. :-\

Wikipedia says mixed Pakistani/Scottish/English descent, which I believe means "POC if we're happy with him, white if we're mad at him" in Angry Tumblr Social Justice circles.

Setting aside the whole issue of how okay it is to cast people of one nonwhite ethnicity as a completely different nonwhite ethnicity, he's certainly pretty enough to be Carlos. And judging by the photos on IMDB, it looks like his hair can be plenty thick-and-fluffy when it's not slicked back...
