I get that there were two other actors who rejected the role (although as far as I know, neither of them were Middle Eastern or Indian) before BC got it. And I get that casting a Middle Eastern or Indian man as the terrorist would be unseemly, especially since the movie came out fairly soon after the Boston Bombing. But really, having one other Middle Eastern character who was capable and worked for the good guys would have quieted potential accusations. And then I have a bunch of problems with Khan from an artistic and not political perspective, too, but that's a discussion for my fellow film-watching friends (say that three times fast).
