(Anonymous) 2014-02-22 01:54 am (UTC)(link)He's in the process of being 'redeemed', gaining tragic backstory, and being involved in a love triangle with one of the main female leads. There are rumours that we're meeting his father next season, and judging by track record with parent reveals on this show, said father will be a horrible douchebag who's responsible for all Hook's worst character traits. Unless something startling happens, he's very much still on the show, and moving ever closer to main character. Or at the very least, one of the main characters' significant love interests.
It's probably bad that I'm now hoping that the fact her love interests tend to die or almost die with alarming regularity will hurry up and claim him as the next victim. But I am in fact hoping exactly that.
Knowing my luck, though, it's gonna claim her other love interest instead.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-22 02:45 am (UTC)(link)I'm so-so on Neal as a character (I like him well enough, but he's not up with my favs), but if Hook/Emma does turn out to be endgame, and Neal dead in the process, I think I'll be leaving too.
Aside from anything else, given Hook's history with Neal, it would be really creepy. Not necessarily on Hook's part, since he didn't know initially and didn't really choose who he fell in love with, but given that Hook ran away with Rumple's wife, tried to sort of have Neal as his step-son after her death (and promptly shopped him to Pan when he said no), then fell in love with Neal's first love and the mother of his child in turn, it would be really, really creepy of the show to actually have him and Emma at the end with Neal dead behind them. It seriously comes across less as Hook perpetually ending up in tragic romances and more like Hook has a habit of going after people Rumple's family loves.
And that aside, I just really don't want him near Emma. After everything she's been through with Graham and Neal and constantly losing those she cares about, and given Hook's interactions with a lot of other women (Aurora, Belle), her turning to him just sends off all my warning bells. It is not the kind of story relationship I like. They did too good a job with him in his villainous, vengeful S2 phase, what with him beating up a chained woman and stealing another one's heart while she slept and later shooting that first woman to steal her memory because she'd fallen in love with someone he hated, for me to ever be comfortable with him near an emotionally vulnerable Emma.
The whole relationship just basically has all the wrong vibes, and I seriously hope it's not where they're actually going with this storyline.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-22 05:07 am (UTC)(link)(And my brain keeps trying to plot crackfic where because of Hook's stay in Neverland he's basically immortal, so he falls for Henry's girlfriend, and then Henry's son's girlfriend, and then the firstborn is a granddaughter so everyone, including Hook, breathes a sigh of relief, until Hook falls for her boyfriend. And then the girl has a son, and the son is gay, and Hook falls for his boyfriend. And so on, forever.)
