I've been in 2 fandoms during the boom stage (one of those was X-Files during the 90s and that was like Whoa). I usually just can't take it. It's too much for me. I prefer my fandoms smaller and stable. Even if it means less cute fanart (cause fanart's the first to go).

Yeah, I tend to find a smaller section of the boom fandoms to stick to, usually defined by my favourite characters, and try to keep within that. I also tend to consciously avoid drama hotspots. When I get burned out on the boom fandoms, I just move on again. It's probably the reason I do move on from larger fandoms so much, why the boom fandoms are almost always only temporary for me. Once the stress outweighs the joy, I just mosey on out.
